Our Commitment
Workforce compliance training is essential for care quality and surveyor readiness in skilled nursing facilities. Iconic LMS LLC is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, including healthcare staff with visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive disabilities.
We continuously test and improve the user experience of our platform to meet evolving accessibility standards and nursing home workflows.
WCAG Conformance Standard
We design and develop the Iconic LMS platform targeting alignment with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards, which also support Section 508 federal accessibility compliance.
These guidelines define how to make web-based learning content perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for people with a wide range of abilities.
Key Accessibility Features by Design
Our design system includes specialized features to support diverse assistive technologies and operational preferences:
👁️ Visual & Cognitive Support
- Color Contrast: High-contrast text exceeding WCAG AA requirements (4.5:1 for body, 7:1 for headers).
- Font Scaling: Interfaces resize cleanly up to 200% without loss of content or breaking layouts.
- Multi-Factor Status: Inservice status indicators use both shape/text and color (never color alone).
- Reduced Motion: Respects the system
prefers-reduced-motionsetting to disable non-essential animations.
⌨️ Motor & Screen Reader Support
- Keyboard Navigable: Complete navigation via Tab and arrow keys with visible focus rings.
- Semantic HTML: Proper ARIA landmark roles (
nav, main, header, section). - Descriptive Alt Text: Meaningful descriptions for clinical diagrams, workflow icons, and course visuals.
- Form Accessibility: Explicit form labels, clear error states, and inline screen-reader alerts.
Floor & Shift Workflows
Unlike generic corporate learning software, Iconic LMS is engineered for the fast-paced floor reality of long-term care:
- Mobile-First Touch Targets: Interactive elements have touch targets of at least 44×44 pixels, making selection effortless on shared floor tablets.
- Micro-Inservice Pacing: Courses are structured in modular, bite-sized units with progress autosaving, allowing staff to pause and resume training around resident calls.
- Device Adaptability: Responsive layouts deliver an identical, intuitive experience on iOS, Android, tablets, and desktop workstations.
Known Limitations & Uploaded Content
While we control the accessibility of our native platform interface and core course catalog, certain third-party or facility-uploaded materials may present limitations:
- Scanned Facility Policies: Legacy policy PDFs or scanned paper sign-offs uploaded directly by facilities may not be fully readable by screen reader software. We encourage facilities to upload text-based PDFs or use our digital policy editor.
- Third-Party SCORM Modules: Courses imported from legacy external vendors depend on how they were originally authored and may not meet modern WCAG standards.
- Complex Matrix Views: Large cross-facility regional analytics matrices may be easier to consume via our accessible tabular data export.
Assistive Tech & Browser Compatibility
Iconic LMS is engineered to be compatible with current, standards-compliant browsers and assistive software:
- Screen Readers: Tested with NVDA and JAWS on Windows; VoiceOver on iOS and macOS; TalkBack on Android.
- Supported Browsers: Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, and Apple Safari (current and previous two major releases).
